You’re invited to an afternoon workshop with award-winning local artist Gavin Glakas. Glakas has work in the US Capitol, the Virginia State Capitol, universities, museums and numerous other collections and he’ll spend a beautiful afternoon with you painting in the bucolic countryside surrounding Lone Oak. He’ll take you through each stage of a plein-air painting with a figure – thumbnail and composition, color, value, edges, paint quality and what it takes to create “mood” – while giving both group instruction and individual feedback. Work in the media of your choosing – oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal or pencil. Artists of all skill levels are welcome. Your registration entitles you to one drink at the bar.
